Kramer School of Nursing

The Kramer School of Nursing offers a numbers of generous scholarships to assist transfer students with education expenses.

The Kramer Way Scholarship is generously provided through an anonymous donor. This competitive $10,000 scholarship is awarded to up to 10 pre-licensure students entering the Accelerated BSN (ABSN) program in Summer 2026 and Fall 2026.  

Summer 2026: Application Deadline: 5 p.m. March 13, 2026

  • Kramer Way Scholarship recipients will be notified through OCU email by April 10. Notification of acceptance must be received by 5 p.m. April 17. After April 17, alternates will be contacted and offered the scholarship. 

Fall 2026: Application Deadline: 5 p.m. July 15, 2026

  • Kramer Way Scholarship recipients will be notified through OCU email by July 31. Notification of acceptance must be received by 5 p.m. Aug. 7. After Aug. 7, alternates will be contacted and offered the scholarship. 

Funding will be applied each semester when the student is enrolled full-time in nursing courses within an academic year. Students will have the $10,000 divided between the three semesters of the program. Students must maintain good standing while in the nursing program to continue to receive the funds. 

Criteria for Eligibility: 

To be considered for the Kramer Way Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  • Accepted in the pre-licensure ABSN program for summer 2026 

  • Complete the Kramer Way Scholarship Application 

    • 500-word essay that clearly describes the role all three attributes of the Kramer Way (caring, kindness, and respect) have played in your life. Typed, double-spaced. 

    • Two (2) letters of recommendation 

    • Cumulative GPA 3.0 or above, no academic probation

    • Completed FASFA on file with OCU (recommended, not required) 

    • Agreement to release name to the scholarship donor and provide a written letter of thanks post-award

Established by the Meinders Foundation, this scholarship honors the Meinders family’s dedication and contributions that have helped shape the future of nursing education at 91¿´Æ¬â€™s Kramer School of Nursing.   

This competitive based $5,000 scholarship is awarded to up to 20 students annually. Scholarships will be awarded to 10 pre-licensure accelerated BSN (ABSN), five pre-licensure traditional BSN (TBSN), and five BSN-DNP students who are entering the nursing program in the fall semester. 

Application Deadline: 5 p.m. July 15 

Scholarship recipients will be notified through OCU email by July 31.  Notification of acceptance must be received by 5 p.m. Aug. 7. After Aug. 7, alternates will be contacted and offered the scholarship. 

Students will have the $5,000 applied equally across the first academic year of enrollment (ABSN & BSN-DNP students will have $1,666/semester for 3 semesters. TBSN students will have $2,500/semester for 2 semesters). Students must maintain good standing while in the nursing program and be enrolled full-time to continue to receive the funds. 

Criteria for Eligibility: 

To be considered for the Meinders Scholarship in Nursing, applicants must meet the following criteria:   

  • Accepted into the Kramer School of Nursing 

  • Complete the Meinders Scholarship in Nursing Application 

    • 500-word essay (Essay prompt provided in application) 

    • Cumulative GPA 3.0 or above, no academic probation 

    • Completed FASFA on file with OCU (recommended, not required)

The Buchanan Scholarship was created to provide support to nurse practitioner students who intend to practice in 91¿´Æ¬ post-graduation. The scholarship offers $25,000 each fall and spring semester to second, third, or fourth-year nurse practitioner students who meet eligibility criteria. Funds will be divided equally between three students, one from each of the three BSN-DNP program tracks (FNP, AGACNP, PMHNP).

Scholarship funds are to be used for tuition and fees and will be payable to 91¿´Æ¬. The remaining funds, if any, may be used for books, or specified supplies. A list of eligible supplies will be provided to recipients upon acceptance of the scholarship. Receipts for specified supplies must be turned in to the financial aid office for reimbursement.

Criteria for Eligibility

To be considered for the Buchanan Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time enrollment in one of the three BSN-DNP program tracks (FNP, AGACNP, PMHNP) at 91¿´Æ¬â€™s Kramer School of Nursing
  • Enrolled full-time in the second, third, or fourth year of the program and in good standing (OCU cumulative GPA 3.0 or above, no academic probation)
  • Agreement to release name to the scholarship donor and provide a written letter of thanks post-award

How to Apply

To complete your application, you must submit:

  • A 500- to 700-word essay. The essay should include the following discussion points:
    • Description of how the scholarship will assist you in the achievement of your academic and professional goals
    • Description of how the DNP degree will assist you in becoming a leader in the health care community
    • Description of how you will contribute to improving health outcomes in your future area of practice and your intent to practice in the state of 91¿´Æ¬
  • Complete the online application form .

The Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarship provides tuition waivers for qualified students interested in pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in the Kramer School of Nursing at 91¿´Æ¬. These scholarships contribute to the student's tuition for up to six consecutive semesters (typically excluding summer).

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States, accepted to the university and to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. The Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarship may not be applied to Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing, Undergraduate prerequisite courses, or Foundation classes.

Application Process

All applicants to 91¿´Æ¬ are automatically considered for available scholarships. Submit your 91¿´Æ¬ Graduate Admissions Application for scholarship consideration.

Duration and Renewal of Award

Scholarships are awarded for consecutive semesters for the duration of the program. They are automatically renewed conditional on maintaining a 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment of 6 hours each semester.

The Dean Lois L. Salmeron Endowed Scholarship was created through a $25,000 donation from Kramer School of Nursing Dean Emeritus Lois Salmeron.

Funds from the endowment will support a student or students enrolled in OCU’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program with a Nurse Educator focus.

Preferred criteria for the scholarship are:

  • Recipient is enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program with a focus of Nurse Educator.
  • Recipient is in pursuit of a terminal degree.
  • Recipient demonstrates an interest in a career in or related to nursing education.
  • Recipient has a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better from all prior coursework.
