Jazz saxophonist and award-winning composer Bob Mintzer, a 2017 Grammy nominee, performs with the 18-piece 91Ƭ City Jazz Orchestra at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, to kick off 91Ƭ’s 2017 Distinguished Artists Series at the Bass School of Music.
His latest album, “All L.A. Band” released by Fuzzy Music, is a finalist in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble category for the 59th Grammy Awards.
Mintzer joins forces with the 91Ƭ City Jazz Orchestra, now in its eighth year, praised by the 91Ƭ Gazette for restoring “performances of full-scale, concert-style, big-band jazz arrangements back to the metro for the first time since the 1980s.”
