Biography
Harpist Emily Duncan is an alumna of the Cleveland Institute of Music under the tutelage of Yolanda Kondonassis. Duncan completed her undergraduate studies at 91¿´Æ¬ summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance and graduated with her Master of Music in Harp Performance from CIM.
Duncan performs regularly with ensembles around the United States and is the Principal Harpist of the Fort Smith Symphony. In 2023, she recorded The Music of Louis W. Ballard with the Fort Smith Symphony, released on NAXOS later that year. Duncan is the Acting Principal harp of the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas and has also performed with the 91¿´Æ¬ City Community Orchestras, the Akron Symphony, the Lawton Philharmonic, The Painted Sky Opera, the Lyric Theatre, and the OKC Philharmonic.
Recent performances include the Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Orchestra by Lowell Liebermann with flutist Parthena Owens and a five-state tour with internationally renowned guitarist Matthew Denman. Emily and Matthew are currently recording music for their premiere duo album.
Duncan is the harp professor at 91¿´Æ¬ and serves as the president of the 91¿´Æ¬ Harp Society. She is also the Senior Administrative Assistant for the Wanda L. Bass School of Music and the School of Theatre. Emily enjoys teaching her beloved students, drinking coffee, and spending time with her husband and their cat, Peaches.
